Collection and analyses of data has become ubiquitous in education settings in the past decade.  However, despite the proliferation of assessment activities and data reviews, we continue to observe unchanged student performance in many districts and schools.  Interviews with administrators and teachers reveal a strong need for building capacity of educators for translating data into action.

This session will provide both information for advanced application of WISEdash data tools and will build participant capacity to understand and apply routines called cycles of inquiry to go beyond looking at student data to taking meaningful action.  Finally, the presenters will guide participants through “root cause analysis” and development of an aligned “theory of action.”

Participants are expected to leave this session with a draft theory of action to be further developed at a later time with other building leaders and staff into a clear plan for action.

Presenters: Ed O'Connor and Elziabeth Freeman

Cost: $200; includes lunch
