Who has time to sift through digital content from sites like Teachers Pay Teachers, Pinterest, etc. to ensure standards alignment, developmentally appropriate, and openly licensed permissions? What do Creative Commons licenses allow for authors of teacher-created materials? What impact can OER (Open Education Resources) have on educator creativity, flexibility, and innovation? How does participation and contribution to a global audience enhance professional practice? What impact can OER have on personalizing, accommodating, and improving learning experiences for students? This workshop walks educators step-by-step through Open Education Resources, Creative Commons licensing, and the power of authoring and remixing openly licensed instructional resources. This workshop is especially directed to districts seeking to incorporate cost-saving OER content into learning management systems (LMSs) for consistently relevant and high-quality resources to support district-approved curriculum efforts. Participants are encouraged to bring teacher-created content to contribute to the WISELearn digital content collection in OER Commons. Educators, curriculum directors across all grade levels and all content areas are encouraged to attend. Valuable resources to share back in districts will be provided to all attendees.
Cost to attend: $150/person (tech seats may be used and must be indicated in registration notes)
