Extracting Information From Text and Writing About It: Writing Across the Genres in Grades 6-12 w/William Van Cleave

As students move into middle and high school, they are expected to read increasingly sophisticated and complex text.  In the first half of this workshop, participants will work with highlighting, notetaking, and summarizing techniques for both narrative and expository text. They will practice with a variety of techniques designed to help students understand and prepare to write about text.  Then, in the second half of the workshop, participants will work with genre writing, including prompt analysis, idea generation, organization, development of claim or focus, and incorporation of evidence or narrative elements.  Practical for instructors across the disciplines, this hands-on, interactive workshop will leave you with strategies you can use the very next day in your classrooms!

Early Bird Registration (must register by November 1, 2017 for discount)
$125 per person for any CESA 8 CIA or Literacy Center Member School District. $150 after 11/1/17.
$250 per person for non-member school districts; $300 if registered after 11/1/17
