What are the best practices for emerging writers (and readers!) in Kindergarten and first grade? This power packed, hands-on workshop brings kid writing into the 21st century. See what best-practice kid writing classrooms look like in an academic, play-based setting, supported by the latest research in neuroscience and cognitive psychology. See what exemplary teachers love doing to create transformational writing and beginning reading programs.

Workshop Objectives:
Participants will:

  • Learn how to get started with Writing Workshop
  • Be trained in five research-based phases of beginning literacy development, with targeted instruction for meaning-based developmental writing and sounds and spelling
  • Will take essentials for beginning writing and spelling back to their classrooms

Cancellation Policy:

Any registration cancellation must be received at least 8 business days before event in order for a full conference fee refund to be issued (full refunds do not include service fees. Service fees are nonrefundable).Registration cancellations received 1-7 business days before an event, a refund, minus $50 for each participant, will be issued. Persons who are registered, but not in attendance on the day of the session ("no call, no show") will be charged the full registration fee. CESA 6 reserves the right to cancel any session due to insufficient enrollment. Participants will be notified by email if a cancellation occurs.
