Teachers of grades K–8 may be asking, "Should I teach grammar in my classroom on a daily basis? How would I go about doing this? And how can I teach grammar so it isn't boring to my kids?" Using mentor texts as the cornerstone for how best to teach grammar, this workshop provides teachers with almost everything they need to not only get kids engaged, but excited to learn grammar.

Objectives

Participants will:

  • Unpack the Language Standards.
  • Create a pacing guide for implementing the Language Standards.
  • Connect the Language Standards to a Writing Unit of Study.
  • Find mentor texts to teach the Language Standards.
  • Create lesson plans for grammar.

Who should attend?

Teachers in grades K-8, Reading Specialists, Reading Coaches, Curriculum Directors, & Principals

Participants should bring:

A laptop, Writing Units of Study, mentor texts, and a copy of Language Standards
