Create bookish STEM readers by learning about how to implement two social and engaging structures in your classroom: Mock SB&F Prize Stimulation and Battle of the Books

Join us for hands-on learning and practice with the texts that will tease STEM senses.

This workshop is geared towards educators teaching grades 4-9.

Participants will learn a process and practice a process for facilitating a parallel to a Caldacot selection process with students. This focuses on identified award winning texts from SB & F. Dr. Tim Gerber guides the model and provides resources for carrying out in your classroom. This is truly an exercise in critical thinking around STEM rich texts.

The same idea applies to creating STEM focused Battle of the Books in your classroom. This is a great compliment to any existing content literacy efforts. Or, for some folks, perhaps these exercises could launch content literacy activities for teachers of STEM if it is not an area of strength already.
