Description: This series covers four key areas in Classroom Management and is aligned with PBIS. Each session is a stand alone session.
Audience: Classroom teachers, especially new teachers and those that would like to refine their classroom management as part of their Educator Effectiveness professional development plan.
Other Requirements:
- Each participant will need to bring a laptop that is Microsoft Office compatible
- It is recommended that teachers attend the training with a coach. One coach may accompany more than one teacher, but each teacher that attends should come with a coach who will assist with implementation at the school site.
Module 1: Rules & Routines
Create classroom rules, procedures, attention signals and lesson plans.
Module 2: Acknowledgement Systems
Learn how to give specific, positive feedback and how to increase rate of acknowledgment; and create classroom acknowledgment systems.
Module 3: Consequence Systems
Learn the elements of the consequence continuum, including planned ignoring, how to redirect, defusing power struggles, the influence of implicit bias during vulnerable decision points, ABC’s of behavior and developing a minor system.
Module 4: Room Arrangement Through a Culturally Responsive Lens
This module will explore how to best arrange the classroom to support learning activities, maximize student engagement, and reflect the cultures of the students you teach.
