This book study on Universal Design for Learning will help you better understand this inclusive curriculum-design process that allows for Multiple means of Engagement, Representation, and Action/Expression. UDL NOW! By Katie Novak, is a guide for teachers who want to implement UDL into their classrooms in order to meet Common Core Standards, create higher levels of student engagement, lower barriers to learning, and instill a love of learning in each student. Participants in this professional book study will read and discuss this framework, and how it can impact student learning.  

This book study will meet online 5 times between February 5 and April 14th.  Details on how to access the book study will be sent out prior to the first session.

Participants will need to purchase UDL NOW! by Katie Novak Second Edition.

Learning outcomes include: 

  1. Participants in this book study will learn practical strategies to implement Universal Design for Learning in their classroom to increase student engagement.
  2. Participants in this book study will understand the guiding principles of Universal Design for Learning and how they impact student learning.
  3. Participants in this book study will examine existing classroom instructional practices and indentify areas to begin implementing the UDL guidelines.
  4. Participants in this book study will have the opportunity to analyze, discuss, and share perspectives on the text in order to build a stronger knowledge base of UDL.
