Research reading and writing must be made real, motivating and engaging for all students in order to challenge them to become driven, inquisitive thinkers who can meet the demands of school and life in the 21st century. Christopher Lehman will share classroom-tested strategies and tips for teaching research across all contents to meet key Common Core standards. Time will also be devoted to investigating methods of differentiation to use with confident, experienced researchers as well as emerging researchers. Recognizing that all students, adept and struggling readers and writers alike often need a revitalizing jump start, Christopher will present some effective, developmentally-appropriate strategies to address situations that will sidetrack or distract students during the research and reporting process. Further, time will be devoted to the exploration of customized strategies for reviving disengaged writers and getting them back on track.

This workshop is a good fit for:

  • Classroom teachers in grades 4 – 12, reading teachers, reading specialists, literacy leaders, curriculum and instruction directors and administrators.
