This course will focus on learning about and supporting the implementation of assessment practices in the mathematics classroom, particularly formative assessment practices that promote student ownership of learning through the sharing of learning goals and monitoring progress towards goals through peer and self-assessment. We will be using resources developed by Cheryl Rose Tobey, Susan Creighton, and Emily Fagan, from the Educational Development Center (EDC).
Learning Objectives:
- Knowledge of key research findings about formative and interim assessment practices in mathematics
- Numerous, ready-to-use tools and resources for learning about and supporting the implementation of formative assessment practices in the mathematics classroom
- Understanding of the connection between these practices and other state initiatives
- Build collegial relationships among mathematics teachers within a learning community
Instructional Methodology:
4 Face-to-face sessions: Each session is 1 day (6.5 contact hours per session) in length with time in between to practice and reflect.

Cost (without credits):
-$400 for School Improvement Members

This course will be available for 1 or 2 credits for $175 per credit through Edgewood College.
Additional assignment is required.
