All content area teachers grades 7-12
Educators interested in growing thinkers and writers
Participating 2016-2017 REACCT school teachers
Day 1
Frame a common understanding of argument and critical thinking
Determine how argument fits into all content areas
Learn how critical thinking plays a role in argument
Analyze student argumentative writing
Learn how to tie argumentation into authentic student learning outcomes
Engage in flash debate as a launch into writing
Day 2
Practice argumentative writing
Learn strategies and approaches for providing student/writer feedback in the writing process through meaningful conferring
Gather tools for formative and summative assessment
Develop a plan for integrating argument in your classroom
Cost for two days: Participating REACCT school teachers-- No cost
Others: $300 per person (individual) OR $750 team of three (3) (All Team members must register, your pricing will be adjusted at the time of billing)
Participant Cancellation Policy:
You must contact CESA 4 to cancel attendance one week prior to the scheduled event unless otherwise stated in the individual event details. CESA 4 will only provide full refund of registration fees depending on individual circumstances. Refunds depend upon the ability of CESA 4 to cancel any financial obligations created by the registration such as meals, materials, etc. CESA 4 reserves the right to cancel any workshop due to insufficient enrollment. Participants will be notified by e-mail or phone if a workshop is cancelled. If a participant is a 'no show' the school will be billed for the registration fee, or loss of the 'free' attendance slot.
Dietary Restrictions:
Because of the number of meals served, number of ingredients used, and food product changes from vendors, we cannot guarantee dietary restrictions as indicated in a user's myQuickReg profile will be accommodated. Participants with dietary restrictions such as food allergies should plan to bring their own refreshments.
Weather Conditions:
If a workshop has been cancelled due to weather conditions, every effort will be made to reschedule the workshop. If weather conditions are questionable, please call CESA 4 Voice Mail at (608) 786-4800; Toll Free (800) 514-3075. A message will be posted regarding workshop weather cancellations.
Additional Accommodations:
If you need an accommodation to participate including interpreter services (sign language or other spoken language) please email the workshop contact to set up these services. A two-week notice is appreciated.
