Description

A great diversity exists among learners. The educational community has a responsibility to identify and develop the gifts and talents of children in the areas of intellectual ability, specific academic ability, creativity, artistic ability and leadership. Many schools are struggling to meet these needs. This network offers support for those directing the education of students whose needs extend beyond the core curriculum.

Network objectives

  • What process does your district and school use to identify the unique gifts and talents of students?
  • How can we learn from each other in order to provide rich opportunities for our gifted and talented learners?
  • Does your district’s plan address the seven key characteristics of an effective gifted education plan?
  • What types of programs or opportunities does your district and school offer for gifted and talented students that are systemic, responsive, fluid, appropriate, collaborative, sustainable, and comprehensive? How do they connect to core curriculum?
  • What resources are available?
