This “Research to Practice” academy is intended to support educators who want to extend and expand their capacity to provide effective instruction for reading at the Elementary and Middle School levels. The main focus is to provide teachers information and support that they need to produce exceptional learning outcomes for all students. The information provided will be tailored to maximize alignment with Common Core Standards, College and Career Readiness targets and will support Multi-Tiered Systems of Support / RtI initiatives.

Workshop Objectives:

  • Review and understand the research on evidence-based reading instruction and its relevance for instructional decision-making.
  • Learn and practice essential instructional practices in reading instruction and intervention.
  • Provide a "toolkit" of evidence-based strategies that align with the CCSS and WI SLD Rule.
  • Provide follow-up support and networking opportunities to ensure that evidence-based instruction and interventions are being implemented with fidelity.
  • Review commercially available instruction/intervention programs that meet the standards of evidence-based and learn about available training and support.

Who should attend?
Building-level teams of 3 to 5 educators. Teams may include regular, ELL, and special education teachers, individuals who will be considered "interventionists" and “data analysts” under the new SLD rule. An administrator is strongly encouraged to attend.

Registration Fee:
$2,075 per team of 3-5 educators. Includes 6 days of training (3 day summer academy and 3 follow-up sessions)

Graduate Credit Available:
1 grad credit available thru UW Oshkosh for an additional $200.00 (payable to UW Oshkosh)

Cancellation Policy:

Any registration cancellation must be received at least 8 business days before event in order for a full conference fee refund to be issued (full refunds do not include service fees. Service fees are nonrefundable).Registration cancellations received 1-7 business days before an event, a refund, minus $50 for each participant, will be issued. Persons who are registered, but not in attendance on the day of the session ("no call, no show") will be charged the full registration fee. CESA 6 reserves the right to cancel any session due to insufficient enrollment. Participants will be notified by email if a cancellation occurs.
