CVTC STEM Career Sectional

Each of these sectionals will provide information on STEM related careers. Participants will be working with CVTC faculty from multiple program areas and will have the opportunity to view different teaching environments within the college. This is an excellent chance to build network connections with post-secondary staff as high schools move toward more curriculum partnerships. These sectionals will not offer the option of graduate credit.

Wednesday:  Earth, Wind, Sun, Fire, Math, & Science!  This session will focus on application of Math and Science in emerging areas of Agriculture and Energy with an emphasis on energy generation, utilization and conservation.  The session will include hands-on demonstration of conservation of energy, solar thermal energy, geothermal energy, solar photovoltaic energy, wind energy, and bioenergy in the CVTC Energy Demonstration Lab.

Thursday:  Apply physics to a manufacturing situation. This session is designed to give instructors hands on experience in a manufacturing simulation from conception, design, and testing the end product. The goal is to provide a duplicable experience that can be adapted for the classroom using common household supplies. Have some fun being creative and tapping your inner engineer!
