TEACHING WITH POVERTY IN MIND WITH ERIC JENSEN WORKSHOP SERIES: AUGUST 22-25, 2016

Eric Jensen’s high-energy, classroom-tested, research-based model is designed to erase the academic effects of poverty.

About Eric Jensen
Eric Jensen has been a leading authority on the science and applications of brain research in education for more than 15 years. He is a former teacher who has spoken at national and international conferences and taught as adjunct faculty at three universities. Jensen is a longtime member of the invitation-only Society for Neuroscience and President’s Club at the prestigious Salk Institute of Biological Studies in La Jolla, California. He has authored Teaching with the Brain in Mind, Enriching the Brain, and 23 other books on learning, the brain and teaching.

August 22, 2016:  Training of Trainers for the "Big 4" Strategies:  Wondering how to create a plan for implementing Jensen’s poverty research? This workshop will provide staff development experts the "Big 4" strategies to increase achievement for students in poverty. You will learn, in one energizing, strategy packed day, how to do the nearly impossible! Participants will get (and see modeled) strategies you can use immediately. First, you’ll learn the science of how students from poverty are often different. You get evidence that every student’s brain can change. Plus, you will learn how to break the pattern of failure and how to help turn struggling students into high achieving, motivated learners. You’ll learn 5 clear action steps you can use to intervene in positive, practical way that every teacher can use immediately to improve student achievement. Finally, you will have time to begin to develop a plan to present engaging staff development.

Consider attending:  August 23 or 25, 2016:  Teaching with Poverty in Mind: What Being Poor Does to Kids’ Brains and What Schools Can Do About It:  This original and special event (by the best-selling author of four books on poverty) gives you the overview of a high-energy, classroom tested, research-based model to erase the academic effects of poverty. First, you’ll learn the science of how students from poverty are often different. Learn specific actionable strategies that target the gap. You get evidence that every student’s brain can change. Plus, you will learn how to break the pattern of failure and how to help turn struggling students into high achieving, motivated learners. You get evidence that both teachers and entire schools can increase student achievement among the poor. Finally, you’ll learn 5 clear action steps you can use to intervene in positive, practical way that every teacher can use immediately to improve student achievement.

Also consider attending:  August 24, 2016:  Change with Poverty in Mind for School Leaders:  Learn to create a culture of change to ensure implementation of research-based teaching and learning strategies for students of poverty. Review and enhance your personal capacity for making change while managing key resources of time and people. Administrators, building leaders, and coaches will learn how people are motivated to change and how to change school culture.
