Increase your understanding of the needs of new educators and how to effectively provide support.  Increase your understanding of the Professional Development Plan guidance process. 

Objectives

· Increase your understanding of the new rules/licensure of Wisconsin Educators

· Learn how the Wisconsin Educator Standards form the basis for writing and implementing the new Wisconsin Professional Development Plans

· Learn to apply elements of trust and rapport with initial educators and colleagues

· Learn how to observe lessons and provide feedback to initial educators based on the use of Educator Guiding Questions

Wisconsin Educator Standards emphasized:

WES 1—Teachers know the subjects they are teaching

WES 3—Teachrs understand that children learn differently

WES 6—Teachers communicate well

WES 9—Teachers are able to evaluate themselves

WES 10—Teachers are connected with other teachers and the community

 

Teacher Standards
WES1The teacher understands the central concepts, tools of inquiry, and structures of the disciplines he or she teaches and can create learning experiences that make these aspects of subject matter meaningful for pupils.
WES3The teacher understands how pupils differ in their approaches to learning and the barriers that impede learning and can adapt instruction to meet the diverse needs of pupils, including those with disabilities and exceptionalities.
WES6The teacher uses effective verbal and nonverbal communication techniques as well as instructional media and technology to foster active inquiry, collaboration, and supportive interaction in the classroom.
WES9The teacher is a reflective practitioner who continually evaluates the effect of his or her choices and actions on pupils, parents, professionals in the learning community and others and who actively seeks out opportunities to grow professionally.
WES10The teacher fosters relationships with school colleagues, parents, and agencies in the larger community to support pupil learning and well being and who acts with integrity, fairness and in an ethical manner.

Cancellation Policy:

Any registration cancellation must be received at least 8 business days before event in order for a full conference fee refund to be issued (full refunds do not include service fees. Service fees are nonrefundable).Registration cancellations received 1-7 business days before an event, a refund, minus $50 for each participant, will be issued. Persons who are registered, but not in attendance on the day of the session ("no call, no show") will be charged the full registration fee. CESA 6 reserves the right to cancel any session due to insufficient enrollment. Participants will be notified by email if a cancellation occurs.
